How to fit a Campervan Sink

Updated: Apr 12, 2023

  • Measure the space where you wa

nt to install the sink in your campervan. Make sure the sink you choose will fit in the designated area.

  • Gather the necessary tools for the installation, we used a holesaw and a jigsaw, sealant, and a level.

  • Decide how you want your sink to sit within your worktop, depending on this you may require a hole saw or a jigsaw to cut out the required hole for the sink to sit into.

  • Once you have decided which of the above layouts you want go ahead and mark out roughly where you want the sink to go, easiest way to do this is to flip the sink upside down and draw around it with chalk or a pencil.

  • Measure the inner diameter of the sink at the depth you want it to sit into the worktop. (*If you want your sink to sit on top of the worktop, you will only need a 103mm hole saw, mark the center of the circle you have just drawn and cut out the hole using a hole saw)

  • Using a wooden batten drill one hole at one end (this will be your center fixing point.) measure from the center of the first hole half the full diameter you wish to set your sink into the worktop. Make a mark on the batten then drill through to make a second hole.

  • Using the first hole fix the batten loosely to the worktop using a screw, ensure the batten can still rotate freely. Once you have done this you can use a pencil in the second hole to draw a perfect circle marking the size in which you want for your sink to sit into the worktop.

  • To Jigsaw the marked circle first drill a hole wider than the jigsaw blade at a point close to your marked circle. Then using the jigsaw follow the line until your marked circle has been cut out.

  • Place the sink into the new hole to check you have it sitting in the worktop as required. Use a level to ensure it is even to the worksurface. *note if your van or worktop is not on a flat surface this will not help you! simply go by eye to the worktop.

  • Once the sink is sat in place, use sealant around the edges of the sink to secure it in place and prevent any leaks dripping through. Allow the sealant to dry according to the manufacturer's instructions before turning on the water and testing for leaks.

  • Once you are sure there are no leaks, you can attach the drainage pipe. We recommend using our flexible grey waste pipe if fitting with one of our sinks. Sink Waste Pipe | The Little Vanporium once fitted ensure a jubilee clip is attached for extra fixing.

  • Test all the fixtures and make sure they are working properly.

  • Finally, give your campervan a good cleaning and enjoy your new sink!

Note: It's important to consult a plumber if you're not comfortable or familiar with the plumbing task, to ensure the safe and proper installation of the sink.
